Craft #1 - DIY Watermelon Sneakers!

Okay, okay. I know it's early March and summer is still months away, but why not at least pretend that it's that fabulous season in which long-sleeved shirts, trousers and boots are ditched for bikinis, cutoff jean shorts and flip-flops?

When I found these bad boys on Pinterest the other day, they didn't exactly come with a tutorial, but hey, if you saw these shoes on the Internet and envied them as much as I do right now, you'd come up with your very own tutorial for them too! Hope you like it!

Materials:
-Old pair of red Vans/TOMs/slip-on shoes
-Black fabric marker (or a Sharpie)
-Green epoxy paint or other oil-based paint (to stay put on the rubber soles)
-Painter's tape

Instructions:
1. Start by covering the thin top part of the shoes' soles with painter's tape.
2. Once you have made sure that the tape is secure, start painting the bottom part of the soles with the epoxy paint. Let dry completely before moving on to step 3.
3. Take your black fabric marker and draw little tear-shaped 'seeds' around the whole red part of the shoes.
4. Take the tape off, and voilĂ !!!

Let me know how your shoes turned out in the comments below, and you can even post a pic of the finished product!

Until my next post,
-Lulu <3
